He was the engine running Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga’s political errands in the run up to the 2022 general election. It was then that Suna East MP Junet Mohamed proved to be one of the most trusted allies of the former Prime Minister.

Known for his deep sense of humor and charisma, Junet became crowd favorite whenever he took to the podium.

Some of his phrases during the campaign period have become very popular among Kenyans who use them in different scenarios. One such phrase is ” hii imeenda” which he used in reference to Raila’s unstoppable march to State House in 2022.

But as fate would have it, Raila lost in his fifth stab at the presidency despite being backed by the then President Uhuru Kenyatta.

One year after bthe 2022 poll, Junet is one of the top political actors who have taken a very low political profile, leaving many speculating on his whereabouts and his real game plan going to the next general election.

Despite his senior rank in the Azimio la Umoja coalition lineup in the National Assembly where he serves as the Minority Whip, little is being hard from Junet. He has been missing in action in nearly all opposition functions.

On Friday, as the former Prime Minister toured Migori County, where Junet hails, he was forced to explain the absence of the fiery MP on the political scene.

According to Raila, he recently met Junet in Londo, UK. He revealed that he had assigned the three-term MP an assignment, which he was doing.

Whatever the assignment Junet is currently executing, his loud silence cannot go unnoticed.
