An upcoming Kenyan content creator has broken her silence after private videos involving her and a Russian man surfaced online, sparking intense public debate.
Choice Kinoti went viral after a Russian national allegedly leaked intimate footage recorded inside his apartment. The revelations triggered widespread outrage, with many accusing the man of secretly filming African women for online content.
In an interview, Choice explained that she had been in a relationship with the man and was aware that he was a streamer. At the time, she said, she did not suspect any ill intentions or see warning signs.
She disclosed that the man frequently filmed their daily routines together. These included cooking, cleaning, and spending time as a couple. According to Choice, the filming appeared normal and part of his content creation.
After Kenyans criticised her for washing the man’s clothes in one of the clips, Choice defended herself. She said the man often cooked for her, and she simply wanted to return the kindness.
Choice further revealed that the man had made promises during their relationship. She claimed he had talked about travelling with her to a visa-free country on her birthday, which made her feel valued at the time.
However, she later realised that the situation was not as genuine as she believed. Choice said she confronted him after suspecting that private moments were being recorded without clear boundaries.
Addressing growing concerns online, Choice openly spoke about her HIV status. She firmly stated that she never had unprotected sex with the man and had always been cautious.
She attributed her awareness to guidance from her father, who counselled her before she joined campus. Choice emphasised that protecting herself was a personal principle she has always upheld.
The content creator also revealed details about her education journey. She shared that she initially dropped out of her first university before later enrolling in another institution to continue her studies.
Choice appealed for understanding from the public, noting that she is human and made mistakes in trust, not judgment.
She urged Kenyans to avoid online harassment as she navigates the unexpected spotlight.
