With just a few weeks remaining before the February 2025 election to choose a leader to succeed Chadian Moussa Faki Mahamat in the Africa Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship role, South African journalist Sophie Mokoena has asked Kenya’s candidate Hon Raila Odinga why he has been mute over the issue of enforced disappearances of innocent youths which has generated a climate of fear all across the country.

Through her post on the X platform, Sophie Mokoena implored Mr Odinga to explain why he is seeking to be elected for the continent’s top job yet he has failed to provide tangible answers to H.E President William Ruto and his current Kenya Kwanza administration on how the cases of mysterious abductions can be tamed and be a thing of the past in the great republic of Kenya.

“My question to Raila Odinga. You are campaigning for the position of the African Union (AU) Commision Chair. Why must Africa consider you when your country can’t provide answers on the abduction cases in Kenya?” Sophie Mokoena posed Mr Odinga.

The famous reporter also criticized the Orange Democratic Movement ODM party leader, for his interest in the AUC chairmanship seat yet he has allegedly failed to lead in his own country of Kenya.

“You want to lead the continent when you are failing to lead in your own country.” She added before tagging President William Ruto’s Statehouse residence.
