The interior Cabinet Secretary Professor Kithure Kindiki has apologized to Kenyans over the chaotic protests staged on Wednesday July 12 by the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Camp in different counties.

The protests called by the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga attracted attention both locally and internationally following loss of lives and destruction of property with vandalism of Nairobi Expressway being on the spot.

Speaking on Saturday in Homa Bay during the Home Coming ceremony of the Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, Kindiki assured Kenyans that the security docket is ready to ensure that there will be no chaos and loss of lives on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday when the opposition will stage the protests.

“A few of our citizens this week took advantage of the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution to hurt other citizens, damage their property, paralyze businesses and obstruct others.”

“I want to assure you Your Excellency, and the people of Kenya that there will be no violence, no loss of lives and destruction of property on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday or any other day.”

“Nobody will be allowed to distract our public order. It happened, it will not happen again, and on behalf of the security sector, I am sorry for the trauma and terror to which we put innocent Kenyans just because of few criminals who think they are bigger than everybody.”

“Take it from me today here in Homa Bay, that there will be law, order, peace and tranquility this week, next week and any other day ,” said Kindiki.

Omollo’s event was graced by President William Ruto, the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, a number of CSs, PSs and other state officials as well as politicians.

Kindiki’s remarks comes a day after President Ruto while speaking in Nakuru County reaffirmed that his government will not allow loss of lives by a decision of a few people to look for power through unconstitutional means.
