Yesterday evening a tragic accident took place in Kericho County at Londiani Junction whereby more than 50 people lost their lives.
The accident happened after a vehicle lost control and hit other vehicles that were backed along the road. Most of those who died on the spot include the roadside hawkers who were selling foodstuffs.
It is an accident that led to President William Samoei Ruto sending a message of condolences to the family affected. At the same time, Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen arrived at the place and asked Kenyans to be patient as a thorough investigation is being conducted to ascertain what could have led to that tragic accident.
Later today, a picture of a young boy sitting and crying where the accident took place has gone viral. The boy visited the scene to find his mother who was a hawker in Londiani Junction. Sadly, the mother was among those who died.
Former Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has taken to his official Facebook page to write that God has mercy on this boy.

In my view, the government should try through the traffic police officers to put tough measures to deter drivers from overspeeding. This might reduce accidents.
