MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, a close ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has expressed fear of a person pushing for the impeachment of the DP. Wamuchomba, who is the Member of Parliament for Githunguri, claims that this individual is attempting to divert attention from other pressing issues facing the country.

According to Wamuchomba, the person in question is “very worried that the Gen Zs have just gone calm and they will erupt again because the fundamental issues that pushed them to the streets have not been sorted.”

She further alleges that this person is concerned about the potential chaos that could arise from the privatization of key state entities, such as the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

Wamuchomba’s statements come amid growing calls for the impeachment of Deputy President Gachagua, with some politicians, including Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, openly advocating for his removal from office.

However, Wamuchomba has vehemently defended Gachagua, urging the President not to entertain the impeachment, as it would be “very detrimental to the stability of our country.”

The MP’s remarks highlight the growing political tensions within the Kenya Kwanza administration, with some leaders seemingly concerned about the potential consequences of the ongoing power struggle.

Wamuchomba’s warning about the possibility of unrest among the youth and the potential disruption caused by the privatization of state assets suggests that the impeachment plot may be part of a broader political strategy to divert attention from other pressing issues.
