Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Monday, 20th March, 2023 led mass action in Nairobi where he was joined by his allies including members of parliament and senators.

The former prime minister took time to turn up for the protests as the police kept dispersing his supporters who had turned out to join him in the protests, However he finally managed to come out and addressed supporters at Eastliegh.

As the former prime minister was holding demonstrations in Nairobi, six defiant Luo Nyanza members of parliament were busy holding a meeting over development projects in their constituencies.

The six lawmakers were: Dr. Gideon Ochanda of Bondo Constituency, Caroli Omondi member of parliament for Suba-South, Elisha Odhiambo member of parliament Gem constituency, Uriri constituency member of parliament Mark Nyamita, Rongo constituency member of parliament Paul Abuor, and Kisumu Senator professor Tom Ojienda.

The lawmakers held a meeting with Information, Communications and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo and Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir.

Cabinet Secretaries Eliud Owalo and Davis Chirchir when they met with rebellious Luo Nyanza members of parliament.

According to Information Communications and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo, they discussed plans to initiate some energy projects in Nyanza region which he said will be initiated soon.

“We discussed and agreed on the implementation work plan for fundamental Energy projects in Nyanza, which will shortly kick off.” The Cabinet Secretary posted on his official social media pages after the meeting.

The members of parliament already declared that they will not be joining former prime minister Raila Odinga who is their party leader for the anti government demonstrations. The leaders have been working with government despite the critism.
