Situation as the Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale , Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla lands in a foreign country for military duties.

The two military heads visited the KDF troops serving under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) in Kismayu, Somalia.

The visit was aimed at boosting the morale of the soldiers and appreciate their noble efforts of contributing to peace, security and stability in the Horn of Africa.

In the first deliberation, they met with the Jubbaland State Administration led by Abdikadir Haji Mohamud, the second Vice President, Security Minister and the SNA/JSS Commanders who gave me an insight into the security situation in Jubbaland.

Later, Duale and Ogolla received a briefing from both the sector Commander in charge of Sector 6 and the Commanding Officer in charge of 2MIB.

” I was glad to learn of the many gains achieved so far and the projected plans meant to maximize and exploit on the achievements. Despite the challenges faced by our troops deployed in Somalia, they proved to be professional and effective to the mission.” Duale said.

The CDF and the CS assured the troops of government steadfast support for the mission’s success and implored them to continue serving with valour and dedication in collaboration with other Troops Contributing Countries (TCCs).

During the visit, Duale was accompanied by senior officers from the Defence Headquarters as well as the Defence Forces Sergeant Major Warrant Officer Class One (WOI) Elijah Koranga.
