Mugithi singer Lawrence Njuguna aka DJ Fatxo has opened up about his real relationship with the late Jeff Mwathi.Speaking during an interview with Massawe Japani, the artist who was recently acquitted of the murder of Jeff said that the deceased was his friend and pointed out that he had no reason to harm him.”Jeff was my friend. I see no reason to kill him,” he said.
However, he made it clear that their friendship was not close but professional.
We were not close friends. We used to meet only when I was buying shoes,” he said.
DJ Fatxo revealed that he came to know the 23-year-old in 2021 through a female friend who was selling him shoes. At that time he was popular due to the popular songs he had released.
“Jeff had a shoe store. I like things and fashion, I went there and found a girl named Faith Mutanu. I didn’t know the store belonged to Jeff. I had bought shoes worth more than one hundred thousand,” Fatxo said.
He added, “Jeff said thank you and I have been promoting him a lot. I never stopped being his customer. When we met, he took a picture with me. Then he told me that Samidoh is his uncle. I dismissed it because I didn’t see anything else to talk to him about.”
He said Jeff met him at the store several times after the first meeting but they never developed a close friendship.
Jeff later told the singer about his job decorating stores as he had decorated his store.
He saw me many times. He had a habit of taking pictures. When he found me the other day he told me if I want to build a shoe store I should tell him because he built his own,” Fatxo said.
He noted that he was not contacting Jeff by phone until 2023 when he needed the deceased to work for him.
However, he made it clear that the deceased met his death if he had not yet done any work for him.
