President William Ruto’s recent tour of the mountain region took an unexpected turn as the highly debated “one man one shilling” agenda was conspicuously absent from the discussions.

Prior to the tour, regional leaders had been fervently advocating for increased funds to their constituencies to achieve better balance in resource allocation.

However, during Ruto’s roadshows and meetings in Central, this pressing issue remained conspicuously sidelined.

Reports now reveal that leaders who managed to secure one-on-one meetings with President Ruto and Gachagua were met with resistance when attempting to raise the “one man one shilling” topic.

The agenda failed to find traction during discussions and stopovers in Kiambu, Muranga, Kirinyaga, and Nyeri counties.

Observers noted that both Gachagua and Ruto’s body language, as well as their statements, indicated a lack of interest in engaging in such a debate.PHOTOS]: Ruto launches tarmacking of roads in Nyeri

Sources indicated that the leaders were redirected to State House economic advisor, Mr. David Ndii, for an explanation on the infeasibility of the debate.

As a result, the “one man one shilling” debate, which had garnered significant attention and anticipation, seemingly dissipated during the tour, leaving regional leaders with unanswered questions about its viability.
