Faith Kaini, a resident of Tharaka Nithi, Kenya, is seeking legal assistance to reclaim a piece of land she financed during her marriage.
Faith’s husband left her abruptly after securing a new job, revealing through hurtful messages that he had never loved her and had only used her for financial support.
Faith’s ordeal began in 2019 when she married her now ex-husband. During their three-year marriage, she supported him financially while he was unemployed.
She even took out a loan to buy a piece of land, putting her husband’s name on the title deed with the intention of securing their future together.
However, the relationship took a bitter turn when her husband got a new job in 2022. He then confessed that he had only stayed with her until he could stand on his own feet and had no genuine affection for her.
The situation has left Faith in a difficult position. Despite her willingness to move on from the painful marriage, she wants to regain full rights to the land she financed.
Her ex-husband, however, has refused to remove his name from the title deed unless their child’s name replaces his. Faith insists that since she solely financed the land, it should be her decision what to do with it.
Faith shared screenshots of their WhatsApp conversations where her ex-husband bluntly admitted to using her. In one of his messages, he wrote that he never loved her and only stayed with her until he found a job.
These revelations have not only broken her trust but also left her determined to fight for what is rightfully hers.
The emotional and financial toll of this situation is significant. Faith is a mother, and her primary concern now is to secure a stable future for herself and her child.
