With a few hours remaining before the African heads of state head to the polls to elect the new AU chairman, Kenya’s candidate Raila Odinga is having the time of his lifetime.
This was after the former Prime Minster was captured on a video leaving a meeting with President Ruto before the two drove away in the same car. In the video, the two could be seen emerging from a building and heading straight to take their vehicles
However, Ruto could be seen having a small chart with Raila before asking him to use the other door to get to his official car, which bore the Kethe Nyan flag. Security could be seen opening the doors for the two leaders, who took back seats before the car left.
African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat will officially step down on Saturday, 15 February, ending rumours that he was trying to persuade 16 heads of state on the continent to form a blocking minority that would have allowed him to remain in office for a few more months.
“Raila is not a Head of State nor a Former. No protocol or law stops him from riding in the same car with Ruto if Ruto feels so.”
