The family of 60-year-old Millicent Wahura Mwangi is struggling to come to terms with her brutal murder in Mwireri village in Olkalou, Nyandarua Central Sub-County.

What began as a missing person report at Olkalou Police Station quickly turned tragic as detectives uncovered evidence suggesting foul play.

Three days after her disappearance, on November 14, 2025, locals walking along the Malewa–Kipipiri road in Rumathi village, about 37 kilometers from Olkalou, discovered a female torso stuffed in a sack and dumped by the roadside.

Police officers from the nearby Police Station responded swiftly, documented the scene, and began searching for the missing body parts, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The torso was then taken to the local morgue for preservation and further examination.

On November 15, detectives informed Millicent’s family about the discovery.

With the case confirmed as murder, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Homicide Unit took over. Working closely with Nyandarua Central detectives, they began an intensive probe that relied heavily on forensic tracking. Their efforts led to the arrest of Benson Maina Mwangi, the deceased’s second-born son, who was found hiding in Kamulu.

During a re-enactment exercise, the suspect led investigators to River Malewa, where an underwater search team recovered a machete believed to be the murder weapon, alongside a blanket, bedsheet, and other items used in the crime.

Detectives are now piecing together Millicent’s final moments, determined to build a strong case to ensure that justice is served and her family finally finds peace.
