Police in Navakholo, Kakamega County are holding a teacher who allegedly killed his wife on Thursday night.

Sultan Farah stabbed his wife, Irene Oyalo, multiple times in the chest with a knife killing her on the spot.

Farah, a teacher at Burangasi Secondary School in Kakamega, killed the wife, after they picked a quarrel over an alleged love triangle.

The assailant locked up the house after killing the woman and went into hiding.

Police were forced to break into the house to retrieve the deceased’s body after neighbours reported the incident.

The suspect was later saved by police from a mob that caught up with him and attempted to lynch him over the murder.

The motive for the murder remains unclear but police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Area Chief called on other women to report cases of gender violence to police or chiefs in good time to avoid a repeat of a similar incident.

The teacher has since been arrested and is in police custody while the body of the deceased has been moved to mortuary pending postmortem.
