Entertainer Nyashinski is looking to break the glass ceiling with his new conceptualised show dubbed Shin City.
Here, fans will get to immerse themselves in his music and storytelling production which is heavily experiential.
“It is a production led experience, I want us to think of it as more than just a gig. It is many different elements coming together to make it happen. Shin City is part, of the show itself, and the experience on the ground,” Nyashinski said at the rehearsal showcase hosted at Winning Post, Ngong Racecourse, last night.

Coming up with the Shin City idea, saw Nyashinki assemble a team to bring it to life.
“We started conceptualising the idea in December but started working on it in January. It is three months in the making, I hope it shows on the day you come to watch and you will be like ‘Wow!! These guys took time to make that. He is not just up there guessing.”
Nyashinki explained, “We are following a scripted specific order to ensure the presentation is precise. I want to give guys value for their money.”

Shin City will be a learning curve for Nyashinki and also a statement in the Entertainment circles that artists can organise their own productions without relying on corporate funding.
“Shin City is not an ego thing or a cash grab or anything like that it is a chance to present yourself the way you feel your brand needs to be presented.
I feel like something like this, is a chance to break the ceiling and change the mindset of how to conduct business. You invest in yourself and music.
You can produce your own Grammy’s with this kind of model. That is one of the things that is very important to me,” he stated.

The Properly hitmaker explained why Shin City will be a new normal in the Kenyan show business.
“It is important for us to break the ceiling. It is important for us to see that it is possible. It is important for us to feel like we can do it ourselves.
Any time you have some kind of production may be corporate is involved. It is time for the arts to take control of their art.
It is my way of showing, it is possible to let us give future generations a different art world than what we found. Not the same house that we are in.”
