In a significant turn of events, Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Center and Church received a reprieve after the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Shakahola massacre dismissed allegations surrounding his ministry. The committee, spearheaded by Chairperson Danson Mungatana, visited the church premises in Mavueni, Kilifi County, on Monday, October 16, to investigate claims of indoctrination and mass murder that had been leveled against Pastor Odero and his church.
The allegations had taken a grim turn, accusing the church of harboring a morgue and graves related to the Shakahola massacre. However, after an extensive inspection, the committee declared that there was no evidence to support these claims. “We were told there was a mortuary and graves here. We have not seen any morgue or graves as we continue with our fact-finding,” stated Mungatana.
This announcement comes as a vindication for Pastor Odero and his congregation, who had been living under the shadow of these serious accusations. The visit by the Senate committee has not only cleared the church of these allegations but has also restored a sense of faith and credibility within the community.
The pastor, visibly relieved by the committee’s findings, expressed his gratitude for the thorough investigation. “We have always maintained our innocence, and we are thankful to the committee for their diligence. Our focus has always been on worship, community, and spiritual growth,” Pastor Odero stated emphatically.
The committee’s verdict not only exonerates Pastor Odero and New Life Prayer Center and Church but also highlights the importance of fact-based investigations in ensuring justice and fairness. The community, once clouded by uncertainty, can now move forward with renewed trust, understanding, and harmony, while Pastor Odero and his congregation continue their religious mission with a renewed sense of purpose and assurance.
