Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has vowed to have Edwin Sifuna ousted as Nairobi Senator in 2027, over the pact between President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga on Friday, March 7, 2025.

In a video shared via his official Instagram account on Saturday, March 8, 2025, Salasya says that Sifuna has betrayed Kenyans by agreeing to sign the working framework agreement between the Orange party and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Salasya endorse Bosire
As a result, Salasya has endorsed Wilfred Bosire, the founder and chairman of Nairobiā€™s Matatu Crew Association (MCA) Sacco whose matatus mostly ply the Nairobi-Ngong route.

According to the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) lawmaker, Sifuna is unable to correct the messes of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Salasya has also accused the Nairobi senator of being a puppet of a political conman and urged the residents of Nairobi to start working with Bosire ahead of the 2027 general elections.

ā€œSince Sifuna canā€™t correct the messes of Nairobi Governor, and he is a puppet of a political conman. I therefore present Bosire for senator. People of Nairobi, I ask you to start working with this one,ā€ Salasya captioned his video.

Salasya-Sifuna fallout
In the video, he is heard justifying his decision, stating that despite him coming from the same ethnic group as Sifuna, he feels betrayed to have seen the ODM Secretary General read out the working framework agreement between UDA and ODM.

He condemned Sifuna for what he termed as lying to Kenyans that ODM would not join the government, only for him to lead in the signing of the pact.

Sai, yeye ndo amesoma speech ya the memorandum of understanding. Mimi ni mluhya from Wanga Kingdom, the luhya trustee na wewe Bosire ni Mkisii, lakini mimi nakuendorse usimamame kiti ya senator Nairobi, huyu amalize na mzee waende retire. Mimi naomba wau wetu wote ambao wako kwa mtaa na jamii yote ya waluhya wakupatie wewe,ā€ Salasya is heard saying in the video.

Ruto-Raila deal
President William Ruto and Raila Odinga on Friday, March 7, 2025, signed a working framework agreement that will see the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party work together in government.

The agreement titled ā€˜Understanding to resolve the social and political challenges facing Kenyansā€™ will see the two parties address 10 issues that are facing Kenyans.

The agreement will see the government fast-track the full implementation of the NADCO report, push inclusivity in all public life, protect and strengthen devolution, promote and protect the livelihoods of young people, leadership and integrity, protect the right to peaceful assembly and protest, address national debt, fight against corruption, stop wastage of public resources, promote government efficiency, and protect the sovereignty of the people, the rule of law, and constitutionalism.

If the NADCO report is implemented, the government will be forced, among other things, to reintroduce the prime ministerā€™s position and office of the official opposition leader.

Sifuna, who has been in the media opposing any deal between UDA and ODM, was at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) to sign the pact in his capacity as the ODM Secretary General.
