William Ruto is a man who will always be remembered as being ahead of almost everyone, especially in the political corridor’s. This is according to the manner in which he has managed to handle some issues. This was also seen in the manner in which he handled Uhuru Kenyatta’s post retirement itinerary. Now, Uhuru Kenyatta retired when he was still of a youthful age. 61 years is not such an old age. As compared to his predecessors who left the presidency when they were very aged and opted for retirement, Uhuru still had many years and a great influence also. Letting him be idle would have invited distractions to his formation of the government.
So what did Ruto do? He opted to appoint Uhuru Kenyatta on the first day he took power. This would mean that Uhuru Kenyatta would now play regional politics anf not the local based politics. This has kept him busy and he has not time to engage on local issues.
But what might have happened had he not given Uhuru a job? Uhuru Kenyatta is allowed constitutionally to play party politics for the first six months after retirement. This would have given Kenyatta voice in the government had he not been engaged. And with that, Ruto has had a field day, with the only opposition being Raila Odinga.
