Uhuru’s lieutenants who served in the 12th parliament yesterday met with over 500 grassroots leaders at the Kiambu High School before announcing that they will be organizing countrywide rallies to show “empathy” for Kenyans due to the high cost of living.

The announcement on resumption of rallies comes a week after Uhuru and Raila chaired a meeting in Kiambu county.

The leaders urged Mr Kenyatta to make a political comeback and mobilize his team.

The former head of state has been on the receiving end of criticism from Kenya Kwanza leaders in government who have been quick to blame the previous regime. The latest is the leaking roof at JKIA, which Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen has blamed squarely on Kenyatta.

Kenyans have been calling President Ruto to put in place measures to lower the cost of fuel in the country.

Raila said the decision to increase fuel prices was a bad idea adding that it will trigger inflation across the various sectors of the economy.

But Ruto said he shouldn’t be blamed for high cost of fuel claiming it is beyond his power.
