President William Ruto’s government has been taken to court just hours after hiking fee charged on the acquisition of National Identify Cards, Passports and other documents.

A Nakuru Doctor has swifty moved to court to block the President William Ruto’s government of enforcing the new fees announced the key documents yesterday.

The doctor argues that the fees announced yesterday were unreasonable and were hiked without public consultation.

“Nakuru doctor moves to court to challenge new fees on National ID cards, passports and other documents, argues they’re unreasonable and were hiked without public consultation.” The Standard wrote.

Yesterday, the government through the Ministry of Interior and National Administration led by Professor Kithure Kindiki announced that those seeking to acquire new IDs will be required to part with Kshs 1000 and that those who have lost their IDs wanted replacement will have to part with Kshs 2000.

Passports, Visa fees were also increased in a move that has sparked public outrage.

All eyes will now be on the court to see if they will move to stop the hiked prices or not.
