The CS emphasised that the Tourism ministry will work with local communities to investigate strategies aimed at mitigating conflicts between humans and wildlife.
According to the CS, human-wildlife conflict has emerged as a pressing concern in Kibwezi and Mtito-Andei regions.
Conflicts have increased as a result of the growing human population and the invasion of traditional wildlife habitats.
Urgent attention is needed for problems like agricultural destruction, livestock predation, and sporadic attacks by wildlife on villagers.
The Act mandates that the victim notify the closest Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) office of any fatalities, injuries, or property damage within 48 hours of the incident.
According to the Act, the impacted parties will get Sh3 million in the event of a death.
If there are injuries, the impacted parties may receive up to Sh3 million in compensation.
