Head of state President William Ruto’s cash donation of 5 million was handed over to Anglican Church in Bungoma by Bungoma County Governor Ken Lusaka.
The donation was carried in lap top back and was joyfully accepted by the bishop at the church event.
The donation was given to St. Crispinus Anglican Church in Bungoma.
This comes only few days after the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi rejected a cash donation made by President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja during a church service at Soweto Catholic Church.
During the service, Ruto had donated Kshs 600,000 to the church choir while Sakaja gave Sh200,000.
Ruto at the same time gave Kshs 2 million for the construction of the parish priest’s house and pledged another Kshsc3 million for the same. All these were rejected by the church.
This had followed directive by the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops that banned such donations.
The Anglican Church of Kenya currently headed the Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit has not fully pronounced itself on such donations made by the Ruto led administration.
