President William Samoei Ruto on Friday continued with his tour of Meru county, where he continued to launch various development projects. The head of state was accompanied by his close allies from the region.

Among those who accompanied President William Samoei Ruto in various parts of Meru county includes Meru county governor Hon Kawira Mwangaza, Meru county Senator Hon Kathuri Murungi, Agricultural Cabinet Secretary Hon Mithika Linturi among other leaders from the region.

However, drama was witnessed at Matuati in Meru county after President William Samoei Ruto made a stopover to address residents. The head of state introduced Meru county governor Hon Kawira Mwangaza to address residents, but the vocal governor was rejected.

According to a video from the political rally, residents could be seen waving their hands, in a sign of their displeasure with President William Samoei Ruto to invite Kawira Mwangaza to address them. They heckled at her, forcing President Ruto to deny her audience after the crowd went hostile.

This comes moments after the head of state was forced to confront rowdy youths who also attempted to heckle him in Meru county. Ruto slammed them, saying he will not entertain his rally to be interfered with by goons.

The head of state has been on a working tour in the region, where he launched various development projects. He launched his affordable housing project on Thursday, but he suffered a huge blow after the court of appeal stopped him from collecting housing levy.

The court declared the housing levy to be unconstitutional, forcing the head of state to return to the drawing board.
