Kimani Ichung’wah the Majority Leader in the National Assembly has opened up about the crucial role he played in bringing together President William Ruto Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Speaking on KTN Ichung’wah shared that he had urged President Ruto to reach out to both Raila and Uhuru in an effort to foster unity within the country.

Ichung’wah revealed that during a conversation with President Ruto last year he had advised him to engage with Raila Odinga. Later he had another candid discussion with the President suggesting that he should also reach out to former President Uhuru Kenyatta. This move according to Ichung’wah was driven by his belief in Ruto’s government and the direction the country was heading.

Before taking up the position of Majority Leader Ichung’wah had not focused much on Raila Odinga. However since becoming the Majority Leader in Parliament Ichung’wah believes his understanding of national politics has broadened allowing him to see things from a fresh perspective. He admitted that his views have changed since his early days in Parliament in 2013.

Ichung’wah’s efforts seem to have yielded positive results as President Ruto has since shown support for Raila’s bid for the African Union chairmanship and even included some of Raila’s allies in his administration. Just recently President Ruto met with Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss pressing national issues further reinforcing the growing cooperation among the country’s top leaders. This marks a significant shift in Kenya’s political dynamics towards greater collaboration and unity.
