Raila however announced that the Demonstrations will go alongside the bipartisan talks. He announced that they will be giving their supporters more details about the Demonstrations after the Ramadhan.
However, President William Ruto has reached out to the former prime minister and his team to change their minds over the planned Demonstrations.
Speaking in Machakos where he launched a multimillion water supply project, the head of state asked Raila to embrace dialogue which is set to kick off. At the same time, the head of state asked the Opposition to join hands with them to transform Kenya’s economy noting that the protests will not lower the cost of living which is becoming unbearable.
āI want to ask the other leaders to stop the plans on demonstrations, they join hands with us as we plan the issues facing Kenyans because demonstrations will not help anyone,ā The president asked the former Prime Minister and his team.
Ruto However asserted that it is disruptive to engage in the Mass action that has always caused damages to properties and looting of busineses by Demonstrators taking advantage of the situation.
This was in reference to the past Demonstrations in which Protestors have always taken advantage of the situation to raid busineses.
It is not clear whether the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party will agree to give dialogue a chance as the president asked.
