Opposition leader Raila Odinga has kicked off the collection of 10 million signatures, saying Kenyans are tired after the Finance Bill was approved leading to the skyrocketing commodity prices.

But prominent Kenyan political analyst, Mutahi Ngunyi, has suggested that 2027 is the best time Raila Odinga can prevent William Ruto from contesting the State House but not through signature collection drive.

Odinga said he s determined to ensure power gets back to the people through constitutional means.

Political analysts are of the opinion that the newly launched signatures collection drive may not do much for Odinga but could prevent William Ruto from winning a second term if Raila Odinga wants to compete for the presidency in 2027.

“Ruto must Go. Go where? Go back to state House in 2027?This is the only thing that Raila can stop. And the question is this; can he? And the answer is; Tou cannot use an old map to find new lands,” he said.

Raila Odinga led rallies across the country even as Azimio La Umoja politician insulted the president and the government over the diverse living conditions in the country.

Chaotic scenes were witnessed in Kamukunji as police lobbed teargas and fired live ammunition in the air to disperse the crowd while trying to break Odinga’s convoy that was leading the way.

In the last general election, presidential contender Raila Odinga came second in the hotly contested presidential race, not far from the eventual winner Ruto.

The decision, Raila says, was necessitated by the government’s failure to address the opposition’s grievances including punitive taxes, high cost of living, electoral fraud and biased recruitment of electoral commissioners
