President William Ruto on Saturday made fun of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party’s move to summon own MPs who have said they will work with him and the national government, contrary to orders by their own party leader Raila Odinga.

A section of the ODM lawmakers have been having a soft spot for the president, to an extend of visiting State House, a move that angered Raila and other leaders with the party and the Azimio La umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition, demanding their resignation for going against the party that sponsored them to parliament.

The rebel MPs have however been bold that the 2022 elections is done and dusted, and that Kenyans know Ruto is the president, and they will work with him for the sake of the electorates.

Speaking in Homa Bay County on Saturday while attending the home coming ceremony of the Interior Principal Secretary, Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour alias Jalango, and who is among the rebel MPs revealed that he had been summoned before the ODM party disciplinary panel for being a friend to the president.

Jalango jokingly pleaded with Ruto to reach out to Raila before then.

In response, Ruto made fun of the move, saying any member in ODM knows they are doing well politically if they receive a disciplinary letter, saying he was once in the party, received the letter, but he transitioned to be the deputy president.

“I have heard my friends including MP Elisha, Ochanda and Jalas saying they have been summoned, I was there one time. I was the ODM deputy party leader, and I received that disciplinary letter, and if you are in ODM, and you are given that letter, know that your moves are getting better.”

“They even took me to court to oust me as the deputy party leader, it never happened and afterwards I became the deputy president. You guys relax, we know that is politics and the journey to leadership,” said Ruto.
