President William Ruto has urged Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro and other young politicians aspiring for prominence in the Mt Kenya region to proceed with caution.
Speaking during the official opening of Gilgil Technical and Vocational College, Nakuru County, the President encouraged these emerging leaders to embrace mentorship from their more experienced counterparts before engaging in any battles for supremacy.
Ruto’s appeal emphasized the importance of young politicians accepting guidance from their elders, highlighting the need for a measured approach to leadership and avoiding hastiness in pursuing political dominance.
Although Ruto’s remarks seemed to align with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s perspective, he refrained from explicitly endorsing Gachagua as his running mate in the 2027 elections, leaving room for interpretation.
“Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and I committed to mentoring these young men. They need to take it slow while we guide them because moving too quickly might disrupt things. Relax, don’t rush,” stated President Ruto during his address.

He further clarified that it is not in his nature nor that of his deputy president to engage in conflicts with emerging leaders.
While addressing the ongoing debate about potential running mates for the 2027 elections, Ruto chose not to openly declare his support for Gachagua, maintaining an ambiguous stance on the matter.
Notably, a faction of Mt Kenya leaders, led by Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, has openly endorsed Ndindi Nyoro as Ruto’s potential running mate in the upcoming elections.
The dynamics within the Mt Kenya political landscape continue to evolve, as emerging leaders navigate the delicate balance between mentorship and pursuing their political aspirations.
