President William Ruto has procured sophisticated weapons for the police ahead of 2027 as he purely blamed past regimes for the insecurity in Kenya.
The new equipments including surveillance choppers, specialised vehicles such as Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) and drones are expected to land in the country next month.
The Head of State revealed that the state-of-the-art weaponry have been acquiredat a cost of Sh25 billion under a modern security modernisation programme.
The Head of State while lauding the move said that this will boost the ongoing war to end insecurity across the country while safeguarding the lives of security personnel in the line of duty.
Speaking in Meru, Ruto said the government is committed to dealing decisively with all ‘characters’ that have continued to threaten the country’s peace.
The Head of State also blamed the past regimes noting that the current insecurity in various parts of the country was a result of the failure of the previous administrations to act.
