Dated the 26th October, 2023. WILLIAM SAMOEI RUTO, President.”

Joshua Kutuny conceded defeat and congratulated Democratic Action Party’s Patrick Simiyu Barasa who defeated him in the August 2022 general elections. Kutuny ran on a Jubilee party ticket.

His appointment came amid tough criticism on Ruto during the 2022 general election campaigns. Kuttuny was one of the MPs from the Rift Valley region who defied the UDA wave and stayed put in Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party.

He went ahead to campaign against Ruto, while fronting Raila Odinga, who was Azimio la Umoja’s presidential candidate. He was at the center of controversy in 2022 when Uhuru Kenyatta kicked out Ruto allies from top party positions.

He was appointed as Jubilee party Deputy Secretary general after former MP Caleb Kositany was kicked out. However after his loss, Kutuny kept a low profile and chose to align himself with Jubilee MPs who supported Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza faction

Kutuny lost his seat to Wesley Kipchumba Korir during the 2013 general election only to recapture it during the 2017 election
