President William Samoei Ruto on Thursday returned to the Mt Kenya region, where he launched various development projects in Meru county. The head of state was accompanied by his close allies from the Kenya Kwanza government.

Among the leaders who joined President William Samoei Ruto in Meru county includes Meru county governor Hon Kawira Mwangaza, Meru County Senator, Deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua , Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Hon Mithika Linturi and other leaders from the region.

However, Kenyans were left eliciting mixed reactions from different social media platforms after a video of Deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua and his boss, President William Samoei Ruto addressing residents emerged online.

According to the video, the duo received a cold reception from residents of Buuri constituency. According to the video, the majority of citizens could be seen going about with their normal business as DP Gachagua addressed them.

The crowd was also small compared to other roadside rallies which President William Samoei Ruto and his Deputy usually attracts. However, the duo managed to address residents before proceeding to launch other development projects in the Mt Kenya region.

This comes after a section of leaders from the Mt Kenya region kicked off open rebellion against Deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua. The leaders endorsed Kiharu constituency Member of Parliament Hon Ndindi Nyoro to succeed President William Samoei Ruto in 2027 and 2032.

On the other hand, President William Samoei Ruto urged young leaders to slow down on their ambitions and focus on service delivery to the people of Kenya.
