The employer of a Kenyan woman who died in Saudi Arabia under mysterious circumstances has broken his silence on the incident. The woman, identified as Ruth Nyathira, was working as a domestic worker in Riyadh when she succumbed to chemical burns.

According to the employer, who requested anonymity, Ruth was attacked by another woman, who poured acid on her after a quarrel over a man. She said that he was not aware of the relationship between the two women, who had both run away from their previous employers and were staying illegally in Saudi Arabia.

She said that she hired Ruth in August 2022 after finding her through an online platform that connects domestic workers with potential employers. She said that he was impressed by her work ethic and professionalism, and that he treated her well and paid her salary on time.

She said that she left Ruth at home while he went to work. She said that she received a call from a man who claimed to be Ruth’s friend, informing him that she had been rushed to the hospital after being burned with acid. She said that he immediately went to the hospital and found Ruth in a critical condition, with severe burns on her face and body.

Ruth said that she contacted the police and reported the incident, and that they arrested Sheila and several other Kenyans who were involved in the attack. He said that he also contacted the Kenyan embassy and informed them of the situation. He said that he paid for Mercy’s medical bills and funeral expenses, and that he arranged for her body to be flown back to Kenya.

He said that he was saddened by Ruth’s death, and that he hoped that justice would be served for her. He said that he was cooperating with the authorities and providing them with all the information they needed. He also expressed his condolences to Ruth’s family and friends, and asked them to forgive him for any shortcomings he may have had as her employer.
