When apostle Dan Wema approached Doris Nkonge in Ruai, she was roasting a few cobs of maize by the roadside to eke a living for herself and her two grandchildren.
Widow gives Wema KSh 100
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Wema said he asked the lady for a KSh 10 piece, and she wondered what her children would eat if she gave out her maize.
“I told her I was job seeking and had been unsuccessful; I was wondering what to do or what I would take to my children back at home,” shared Dan.
“She also gave me KSh 100 to take home to my children and encourage me, urging me not to give up.
Daughter-in-law abandons Doris with kids
According to Doris, her daughter-in-law abandoned her twins and went missing, never to be seen again. She had to take them and bring them up.
“My son’s wife used to leave the kids in the house for like a week. One day, she left the kids at the neighbour’s place and the father of the kids also took off,” she said.
“I decided to raise them like my own and when they got to two and a half years, I started leaving them with someone to go look for casual work. At some point, the casual jobs were no longer available and I became a burden to people. I started selling maize and that is how I met Wema,” Doris told TUKO.co.ke.
Well-wishers raise KSh 82, 000
When well-wishers learnt of Doris’s good deeds despite her predicament, they raised over KSh 82,000 for her.
“May God bless everyone who has contributed the money for me and may Goid hear them when they are in problems,” she said.
She said she would start a cereals business, adding that it would give her time to take care of her grandchildren.
