A family in Nyamira County is grieving the loss of a 39 year-old businessman who passed away following an alleged assault involving the area chief.

The individual, a father of two from Enchoro Village, succumbed to severe injuries sustained during the incident.

Relatives report that he was returning home with his wife and children when they were confronted by an assistant chief and members of Nyumba Kumi, who accused him of carrying illegal alcohol.

According to the family, this led to a violent altercation that resulted in the man being severely injured.

The widow recounted that they struck her husband’s leg, causing him to fall, after which the youths from Nyumba Kumi descended upon him and began to beat him.

She alleged that the situation escalated when the administrator reportedly turned on her and stripped her naked in front of her kids.

Additionally, she mentioned that her son was assaulted when he attempted to protect her.

A postmortem examination later revealed that the businessman died from a skull fracture resulting from blunt force trauma to the head.

His remains are currently at Nyamira County Mortuary as the family seeks justice and action from the authorities.
