Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka has called International Community to monitor the current situation in the country and take action.

Addressing reporters at the SKM Command Centre, Kalonzo called on Kenyans to reject the silencing of citizens through fear, claiming that a motion can be initiated in ICC against the government.

He said that they will lead the fight against the culture of fear that the government is trying to sell to the nation.

Coming against the backdrop of countrywide protests against the recent spate of abductions, especially of government critics, Kalonzo called on Kenya’s international partners to note what he termed “serious crimes against humanity” being perpetrated by the Ruto regime and to add their voice of condemnation.

Kalonzo recalled that in June, young Kenyans armed themselves with phones and water bottles to oppose the Finance Bill 2024.

“How did this so-called Kenya Kwanza government respond to their people’s cries? They clobbered our Gen Z and Millennials with open abandon. They fired indiscriminately live bullets into the crowd of nonviolent demonstrators, killing one too many of our law-abiding youth and injuring far too many.”

Some leaders of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition are racing against time to put in place a new coalition to take on President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza coalition in the 2027 polls. This comes as they decried the slow pace of reconstituting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The leaders, led by Mr Musyoka and Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, disclosed that plans are underway to unveil the new political vehicle which they hope will propel their presidential hopeful to the House on the Hill.

Yesterday, flanked by his lieutenants, Kalonzo was categorical that a lot has been happening behind the scenes and that 2025 will be the year to launch a wider and formidable coalition to take on the Kenya Kwanza regime in the 2027 polls.

“The New Year 2025 will be different. This is our promise to Kenyans and to William Ruto. We will be unveiling the new coalition in the New Year. In the coming months, we will be unveiling more members of the team determined to rid this country of dictatorship and return us to constitutional democracy,” said Kalonzo.

Kalonzo’s announcement comes in the wake of the rapprochement between President William Ruto and opposition Chief Raila Odinga, as well as former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Ruto’s overtures to the duo appear to have driven the last nail in the coffin of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, which Raila used to compete against his foe-turned-ally, President Ruto.

Already, a section of the Azimio la Umoja affiliate parties, including Narc Kenya and the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K), have indicated that they will ditch the Azimio coalition following the inclusion of some ODM members into the broad-based government.

Kalonzo, while disclosing the unveiling of the new coalition, proposed that Philip Kisia be appointed executive director of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party, to take over from former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju.

“Mr. Kisia’s extensive experience in public service, private sector leadership, and community engagement makes him uniquely qualified to lead Azimio’s secretariat as it transitions to an all-inclusive and progressive coalition,” said Kalonzo.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo and his lieutenants claimed that Augustine Muli is deliberately delaying the IEBC Selection Panel’s process, knowing full well that he does not meet all the criteria for appointment.

“It is preposterous that thousands of Kenyans are today unrepresented in Parliament and in county assemblies because of an individual’s vested interests in the 2027 elections, which he wishes to manipulate through a user-friendly IEBC,” claimed Kalonzo.

Without providing any evidence, Kalonzo explained that the long-drawn-out and unnecessary process can be curtailed as Kenya is bigger than one man. The electoral agency’s operations, including by-elections, boundary review, and major procurements, have been heavily impacted by the lack of commissioners.

“We, therefore, say in a loud and clear voice: Mr. Ruto, do the honorable thing and instruct your proxy to withdraw his court cases at the High Court and Court of Appeal.”
