Rita Tinina went away peacefully in her sleep at her Kileleshwa home. Her body was found on March 17, a Sunday. The seasoned journalist passed away only a few days short of turning 46. She is survived by a single child. Veteran journalist Robert Nagila, Tinina’s partner, gave a heartfelt obituary for her, expressing his shock at the tremendous loss.

Attending the mass were journalists from a number of media outlets, including Ken Mijungu, Joe Ageyo, Zubeida Kananu, and Linus Kaika. The event’s MC was Dan Mwangi of NTV. Grievers were moved when veteran journalist Robert Nagila paid a heartfelt homage to his companion.

Nagila lavished his partner with affection and spoke highly of her, calling her a fantastic person who touched many lives. The seasoned writer bequeathed a daughter, age eight. Nagila expressed her immense love for their child.

A day prior to turning 46, NTV journalist Duncan Khaemba disclosed that Tinina would be laid to rest. Following the announcement of Rita Tinina’s passing, a number of Kenyan journalists expressed their grief on social media. In a post, Fridah Mwaka reflected on her final moments with Tinina at the NTV newsroom. Hussein Mohamed, a former Citizen TV news presenter and spokesperson for the State House, paid tribute to Tinina by narrating how she assisted him in filing a story. Following her passing, a touching video of Tinina cuddling up to a homeless child while on assignment surfaced.
