Days after a postmortem procedure on the body of the late journalist Rita Tinina revealed that she died of severe pneumonia, her date of burial has been announced.

Renowned journalist Rita Tinina, whose sudden death saddened Kenyans from all walks of life, will be buried on March 27, 2024.

The family spokesperson Timothy Njaga, said that the postmortem was conducted on Tuesday by government pathologist Peter Ndegwa and family pathologist Dr. Michaka.

Tinina was found dead in her house in Kileleshwa, and since her death, tributes have pouring in from both national figures and members of the public.

The family says it is satisfied with the results, and asked to be accorded privacy to mourn Rita.

According to the burial committee, the renowned scribe will be buried in Narok.

“Requiem mass will be held on Monday, March 25th, 2024; venue to be confirmed between Don Bosch church in Upperhill or Holy Family Basilica Church,” said the commitee.

The scribe, who worked as an Output Producer for Broadcast platforms at the Nation Media Group died on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

“Once the venue is settled on, time shall be confirmed. After the mass Rita’s body shall be transferred to Umash mortuary in Nakuru,” read the communique to friends and family.

A report from Kileleshwa police station said Rita was found unresponsive in her Kileleshwa house.

At the moment, friends and family are meeting at the All Saints Cathedral.

Rita, 46, was said to have been fine as of Saturday, but failed to report to work on Sunday.
