Emotions ran high on Friday during the burial of one of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers who was killed in the September 18, 2023 helicopter crash in Lamu County.
Hundreds of friends, relatives, and military workmates of Major Duncan Mburu gathered at his family’s farm in Mwireri village in Kirinyaga County to lay his body to rest.
Speakers at the funeral condoled the family and praised the fallen soldier, saying he was a hardworking and humble young man.
The Kenya Defence Forces, in a condolence message, termed the accident as unfortunate and prayed for the family’s strength.
Major Mburu was the only breadwinner of the family before he met his death following a military chopper crash in Boni forest together with his colleagues. The soldiers onboard were part of an air surveillance squadron intensifying day and night patrols and surveillance for the ongoing Operation Amani Boni when the incident took place.
Death has robbed the family of a friendly, industrious, humble and hardworking man. May he rest in peace.
