Detectives from the directorate of criminal investigations are investigating the death of a Senior Police Officer in charge of a crime unit in Matuu town, Machakos county.

Police said the deceased who has been identified as Ezekiel Gitiba Mwita who was a Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police, was found unconscious in his rental house which is located in Matuu town.

Several sources have confirmed that It is yet not clear what caused the death of the deceased whose body was moved to the morgue pending autopsy and other procedures.

According to the reports given by the police, the deceased, Gitiba was the commandant of the Border Police Patrol Unit, a key unit among others that help in war war on terrorism, cross-border crimes, cattle rustling and human smuggling.

While reacting to this incident, Kenyans who took to their different social media platforms to speak on this sent their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased stating that it is so unfortunate that the deceased passed away while on duty.

Kenyans have also called upon the directorate of criminal investigations along with the National Police Service to conduct an investigation in order to find out what caused his death.

In the latest news on the matter, it has been reported that the deceased was laid to rest in an incident that has caught the attention of several Kenyans who took to their different social media platforms to send their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
