In a series of recent horrific incidents involving law enforcement, an officer of the General Service Unit (GSU) was tragically killed in Kisumu’s Manyatta slum under confusing conditions.
This latest incident adds to the growing concern over the mysterious attacks on police officers in Kenya.
According to a report from Capital FM, the officer, who was on vacation and a native of Kolwa in Kisumu East Sub-County, was stabbed to death while his girlfriend and friends watched helplessly.
The group was in a car, escorting his girlfriend to his residence in Manyatta. Sources close to the situation revealed that the car stopped after their companion needed to leave.
It was during this brief period that unknown assailants attacked, prompting the officer to intervene.
The officer died at the scene, while one of his colleagues sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Training and Referral Hospital.
The attackers fled the scene before the Kenyan police arrived. The community is left in awe as they await further developments.
