Samantha Nyawira, the 23-year-old Murang’a University student who committed suicide after a love gone sour incident was laid to rest at her parents’ home in Mathira constituency, Nyeri county.

In a eulogy shared online, the family indicated that she died after an accident according.

The eulogy also indicated that Samatha schooled at Tumu Tumu primary school before joining Moi Equator Girls High School in 2015. She then joined Murang’a university after sitting for her KCSE in 2018. She was a follower of the SDA church until her demise.

According to information shared by the dean of students, Samantha who was in her third year pursuing a degree in Tourism Management hanged herself inside her house around Murang’a town near Toll filling station at around 1:30am on April 18, 2023.

Her body was taken to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital mortuary.

Following the death, her classmates and close friends mourned her as a calm and friendly person. They said that a day prior to her death, she posted a status on Whatsapp indicating that she was somehow stressed. It was a meme and most of her friends did not take it seriously given that she had not told them that she was going through a hard phase in her life.
