Moi University student electrocuted while harvesting Avocados in a tree near a power line at the university Main Campus, Uasin Gishu County.
The incident was confirmed by the Eldoret Sub-county police commander. The police have identified the deceased as only Kevin.
The incident has left fellow students in shock most of who are his classmates within the institution.
According to the police, Kevin had gone to the harvest avocados before the tragedy struck him.
His colleagues tried to help him in vain after realising that he had fallen down and lay unconscious for a while.
Detectives from Eldoret police station and officials from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company were called to the scene.
Police were later called to the scene and picked up the body which was taken to the mortuary.
Uasin Gishu County regional branch manager expressed concern at the rising cases of electrocution in the area.
Such accidents are on the rise at major construction sites in the city amid calls to ensure workers are protected.
