A fatal car accident on the 71 Freeway in Chino Hill, United States, claimed the lives of four individuals, including a Kenyan couple. According to California police officers, the couple was travelling in a car that collided head-on with a 2021 Volvo. The Volvo had entered the wrong side of the freeway and was occupied by two individuals.
The authorities reported that the car in which the Kenyan couple was travelling was speeding, causing the driver to spin around in the air before the vehicle settled and burst into flames. Four other vehicles that were on the freeway were also impacted, and casualties were rushed to the hospital by an emergency crew that arrived shortly after the accident.
“The investigation caused the southbound side of the 71 Freeway to close for more than eight hours on Sunday,” noted the authorities. The drivers of the vehicles involved in the collision were reported to have died instantly.
The police report stated that “a 2021 Volvo, occupied by two people, was travelling north in the southbound lanes of State Route 71 when it hit a 2018 Volvo. The sudden impact of the collision caused a 2001 Toyota and a 2008 Honda to also strike a 2018 Volvo. Two other cars were also involved.”
The couple was later identified as 38-year-old Ruth and 43-year-old Gedion, residents of Lake Elsinore in the US. Our thoughts and condolences go out to their family and loved ones during this difficult time.
