This afternoon, the University of Kabianga community was thrown into mourning and disbelief after a much-awaited fun trip to the coastal town of Mombasa turned tragic.
One of its students who was among those visiting Mombasa died after being hit by a vehicle on the spot.
The student identified as Ann Marie was part of a group of students on an academic excursion to Mombasa.
As reported by Nenyon TV, she is said to have spent the night at one of the hotels in Thika Town amongst her friends and schoolmates, and today while trying to cross the busy road is when she was hit by a speeding vehicle.
Fellow students who witnessed the incident termed it heartbreaking and the memories they had made in the tourist town of Mombasa had been turned to sadness after her sudden demise.
They described her as jovial , a go getter and was longing to finish her studies which were months away.
As condolences pour in from across the university and beyond, thoughts and prayers are extended to Ann Marie’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
