Veteran radio presenter Mercy Mawia’s sudden passing has plunged Kenya into mourning, with condolences pouring in from various quarters. In a heartfelt plea on social media, Mawia’s husband, James Wanyeki, in collaboration with Mbaitu FM, has appealed for financial assistance to ensure his late wife receives a dignified farewell.

Wanyeki, grieving the loss, shared his Mpesa number for contributions, emphasising the collective effort needed to honour his wife’s memory. “As Mbaitu FM Family, we have lost a valued member; help us bid our sister a descent send-off,” the post expressed.

Scheduled burial arrangements are underway at Norwich Union, 7th floor, Room 3, opposite Hillton, coordinated by Mbaitu FM. Mawia, known for her warm presence on air, passed away early Tuesday during surgery at a Nairobi hospital, with her husband by her side.

James Mwangi, in an emotional tribute, described Mercy as a beacon of courage, acknowledging her resilience throughout her life’s journey. Despite her untimely departure, her spirit remained steadfast until the end.

Mbaitu FM issued a solemn statement confirming Mawia’s passing, mourning the loss of their esteemed Drive Show presenter and commemorating her significant contributions to the station. They highlighted her role as a beloved broadcaster and influential figure within the community.
