Shock and grief have engulfed residents of Angurai in Teso North Sub-county, Busia County, following the death of a well-known police officer who was found dead inside her rented house on Wednesday morning.
The officer, popularly known by colleagues and friends as “Solo,” was attached to Ahero Police Station in Nyando Sub-county, Kisumu County.
According to police reports, the tragic incident came to light at around 11.00 a.m. after one of her colleagues raised an alarm.
The colleague became concerned after several phone calls to the officer went unanswered. This was unusual, as the two had communicated just a day earlier and were in regular contact.
Sources within the police service revealed that during their last phone conversation, the officer had opened up about challenges she was facing in her personal life.
She reportedly told her colleague that she was under a lot of stress due to unresolved domestic issues.
Despite sharing her struggles, there was no clear indication that she was in immediate danger.
After failing to reach her by phone the following day, the colleague reported the matter, prompting other officers to visit her rented house.
Upon gaining entry, they found her lifeless body inside the house.
Police believe the death may have been a case of suicide, but they emphasized that investigations are still ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The body was later moved to a local mortuary as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) began inquiries.
Officers are expected to speak to family members, neighbours, and close colleagues to gather more information that may help shed light on what led to her death.
