Esther Wahome, a celebrated Kenyan gospel artist, captured the hearts of many with her iconic hit song Kuna Dawa. The track, known for its uplifting message and soulful vocals, cemented Esther’s place as a household name in the Kenyan gospel music scene.
Despite her massive success, Esther chose to step back from the limelight, leaving fans curious about her whereabouts.
At the height of her career, Esther welcomed her second child. Two years later, she faced a life-changing revelation: her son was diagnosed with autism. This discovery prompted her to take a hiatus from music to focus on his health and well-being.
Fortunately, through resilience and dedication, her son’s condition improved. He is now able to speak fluently and has even shown a natural talent for singing.
While Esther demonstrated remarkable strength during this period, she admitted to being hurt by the reactions of some close allies who seemed to take pleasure in her struggles. Despite these challenges, she made a triumphant return to the gospel music scene in 2019, releasing hits such as Asali, Minyororo, Glory, Shakinah, and Yahweh.
However, a section of her fans remained unaware of her ongoing career, mistakenly believing she had stopped releasing music altogether.
In 2024, Esther silenced any doubts about her presence in the industry with the release of Kibali, a song that was well-received and reaffirmed her influence in gospel music. Beyond her music, Esther continues to hold international concerts and uses her platform to empower women and advocate for social change.
Married to businessman Godfrey Wang’ondu Mureithi for 27 years, Esther is a proud mother of three. Her unwavering dedication to her family and her artistry makes her a source of inspiration to many.
