According to Gazette Notice No. 1157, the changes were published under the Political Parties Act and confirm a new team that will steer the party going forward. The notice reflects decisions that ODM had already implemented internally over the past months.

At the center of the changes is Dr Oburu Oginga, who is now officially listed as the party leader. Oburu was installed as acting party leader immediately after the death of Raila Odinga in October 2025, a move aimed at ensuring stability during a difficult period. His gazettement now formalizes a role he has been performing since then.

The new structure introduces several adjustments across key positions. Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir has taken over as Deputy Party Leader in charge of strategy, replacing Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya. Paul Simba Arati has moved into the role of Deputy Party Leader for operations, a position previously held by Ali Hassan Joho.

ODM has also created or filled additional leadership slots to strengthen its internal organization. Godfrey Osotsi has been named Deputy Party Leader for policy, while Gladys Nyasuna Wanga is now the National Chairperson, taking over from John Mbadi.
