Asserting its independence and autonomy, the Office of Registrar of Political Parties has reacted to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya’s call for Ann Nderitu to quit.

The ORPP acts as an independent organization and is not under the direction or control of any person or entity, according to Ali Abdullahi Surrow, the Assistant Registrar of Political Parties in charge of regulation and compliance.

Surrow strongly asserted that in regards to the decisions it makes, the ORPP will not yield to threats or extortion. When making decisions, the office adheres to the principles of its mission, the law, and the Constitution.

When we are making decisions, “we are guided by the value of the office, the law, and the Constitution,” he stated.

Despite the fact that the leaders of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya are free to voice their thoughts regarding the ORPP’s judgments, he noted that this does not compromise the office’s dedication to maintaining its independence.

In an interview with the Star, Surrow highlighted the ORPP’s dedication to upholding its objectivity as an office.

Ann Nderitu’s resignation from her position as the Registrar of Political Parties has been repeatedly demanded by zio la Umoja leaders in Kenya, who say that she is aligning herself with the Executive branch of the government.
