Mutahi Ngunyi, a prominent political analyst, cautions Mount Kenya politicians against banding together to overthrow Ruto in 2027. Ngunyi’s warning comes at a time when calls are growing for the vote-rich region to unite in opposition to Ruto’s rule.
Ngunyi claims that the alleged tactic was revealed too soon and has referred to it as a “foolish suicidal” one. The seasoned analyst stated in a statement on Saturday, march 1, that the broader fictitious Gema brotherhood is already split and that he has promised to take the lead in opposing any effort to bring the region together against Ruto. In the upcoming general election in 2027, Mountain Kikuyus are mobilizing to depose Ruto.
There has been a lot of attention and conversation about the recent political events in the Mount Kenya region. The Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza Alliance has long used this area as a political safe haven. Proposals for regional unity have been fueled by the Limuru 2 summit, which was attended by opposition MPs under the leadership of Mrs. Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc Kenya party.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also been accused of maltreatment by President Ruto, and this warning coincides with efforts to promote unity. Ngunyi has cautioned Gachagua from seeking any affiliation with former President Uhuru Kenyatta, however, as this will lead to disdain for the deputy president with Ruto.
